Sarah Chamberlain

Clinical Director and Psychologist

My therapeutic style is warm, intuitive, and empathetic, with a little bit of laughter on the side. I work collaboratively and compassionately with adults and adolescents.

I believe that effective treatment should utilise physiological and somatic (body-based) approaches, affective (emotions) and cognitive (mind) approaches. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who struggle with low self worth, anxiety or depression or have experienced trauma, grief or loss. I provide support and interventions for individuals with multiple and or complex mental health needs.

One of the things that I value most about my work is the genuine and meaningful relationships that I get to build with my clients. I find myself inspired by their courage and effort they take to achieve their well-being. It is a privilege for me to be alongside them in their wellness journey, and it brings me great joy when I see them change and thrive and attain the balanced and wholesome life that they strive for. My background is varied, I began my journey in the military as a medical officer eventually transitioning into the private health sector providing direct support to individuals with a range of physical and complex mental health presentations.

I believe that ongoing professional development ensures that I am using the most relevant evidence-based treatment approaches and research. Amy Somers

Psychotherapist

I support people to make sense of what is happening emotionally, and connect with their experience in a way that offers relief and hope. I support my clients in relation to those human emotional struggles that we all experience to differing degrees but can at times stand in the way of being able to feel fully present in our life.

I have experience in working with clients who have experienced a range of struggles, and I have particular interest in working with people who experienced childhood abuse, trauma, and neglect, and are struggling with the painful emotions that often carry through to adulthood including low self-worth and anxiety. Sometimes we learn to cope in ways that helped at the time, but in adulthood can lead to more pain and struggle. I am available to work with people in active recovery from drug and alcohol use, and people who struggle with body image.

My work is trauma-informed, somatic, and emotion-focused, I also employ parts-work and chair-work in sessions. I have a particular interest in using Focusing Oriented Therapy, Emotionally Focused and Attachment-based Therapy, Humanistic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic and Trauma focused therapies. Being a therapist is an absolute privilege as I am able to help clients explore the edges of life that often feel undisclosable, and to find meaning and options where things have felt stuck or hopeless. Before working as a psychotherapist, I followed a winding path including working as a community lawyer, teacher, and a ski chalet host.

Qualifications and Training:

Full registration as a Psychotherapist with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)

Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Cairnmillar)

Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary)
