The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends standard consultation fees for psychologists. The current recommended fee for a standard psychological consultation of 46-60 minutes is $246.00.  Psychologists are able to vary this fee at their discretion.

A Medicare Provider number is available to enable clients to obtain a Medicare rebate if there is a valid mental health care plan in place. Our psychologists are also registered as providers with the various private health funds. Contact your private health insurer for further information regarding rebate of psychological consultations.

Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified psychological services below are a list relevant to services provided by seeChange Psychology & Consultancy:

  • People with mental health disorders: Download APS Fact Sheet #15F263

  • Children with autism or any other pervasive developmental disorder PDD): aged under 13 years for diagnosis and under 15 years for Treatment

  • Children up to 15 years of age with any of the following disabilities: sight impairment, hearing impairment, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome

  • People who have a chronic medical condition and complex care needs

  • Follow-up allied health services for people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent

To be eligible to receive psychological services under Medicare, you must be referred by your GP or in some instances by a psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

To be eligible to access services under NDIS you must have a valid NDIS number. 


All accounts must be settled at the time of the consultation and payment can be made via cash, EFT, credit or Eftpos. (Service transaction fees may apply)

seeChange offers HICAPS an efficient and easy payment processing method for your health fund and Medicare payments.

Should there be genuine financial hardship, it is important to advise us in advance as we may be able to offer some short-term fee reduction.


If you need to cancel or change an appointment and provide more than 48 hours notice, no fee is payable. Non-attendance or cancellation with less than 48hrs notice, will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the consultation cost.

Any subsequent appointments will not take place until cancellation fees are settled. 
Please note there is no rebate available on cancellation fees.
